Greg Fleming Discusses Market Volatility, AI, and Private Credit on Bloomberg’s The Pulse
Rockefeller Capital Management President and CEO Greg Fleming joined Bloomberg’s The Pulse to discuss markets amid geopolitical uncertainty. He noted that after three years of strong equity returns, it’s not unusual to see more volatility later in the economic and credit cycles, especially with an “oil shock” creating competing pressures for inflation and global demand.
Fleming emphasized that for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth investors, the focus remains on long-term plans and avoiding major shifts, while making thoughtful adjustments as conditions evolve. He also highlighted AI as a major theme given the speed of deployment and the breadth of adoption, and discussed private credit and alternatives, stressing the importance of diversification, disciplined manager selection and long-term planning in a rapidly changing environment.

Alternative investments, such as hedge funds and private equity/venture capital funds, are speculative and involve a high degree of risk. There may be no secondary market for alternative investments and there may be significant restrictions or limitations on withdrawing from or transferring these types of investments. Private credit and private equity funds generally require an investor to make and fund a commitment over several years. Alternative investments generally have high fees (including both management and performance-based fees) and expenses that offset returns. Alternative investments are generally subject to less regulation than publicly traded investments.
