Rockefeller Global Family Office Welcomes Angela Mwanza, Jordan Powell and Team, Further Expanding Firm’s New York Presence

New York, August 11, 2023

Rockefeller Global Family Office (“Rockefeller”), the wealth management division of Rockefeller Capital Management, today announced that Angela Mwanza and Jordan Powell, two of the industry’s preeminent private wealth advisors, and their four-person team, Oryx Legacy Partners, have joined the firm.

Mwanza, a Managing Director and Private Advisor, has over 23 years of experience advising ultra-high-net-worth families on sophisticated strategies at the intersection of family, finance, and philanthropy. She executes investment strategies with a focus on managing risk, liquidity, and is one of the earliest advisors to embrace sustainable and impact investments. She joins Rockefeller from UBS Private Wealth Management where she spent 15 years as a Private Wealth Advisor and one of a select few Family Office Consultants. Prior, she served as a Private Banker at Lehman Brothers Private Investment Management, and Fleet Private Client Services after beginning her financial services career at J.P. Morgan Private Bank (Morgan Guaranty Trust). She earned an M.B.A. from Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University and an M.A. in Linguistics from the University of Konstanz, Germany.

Mwanza serves on the Board of Directors of Jumia, a for profit e-commerce platform operating in Africa, and is also on the Board of Directors of Summit Junto, LLC. She is the Chair of the Cornell S.C. Johnson College of Business College Leadership Council and is on the Board of Directors of Grace Farms Foundation, as well as Project Drawdown which focuses on climate solutions. She also serves on Pharrell’s YELLOW Advisory Council.

Powell brings over 17 years of experience in financial services. Prior to Rockefeller, he joined UBS Private Wealth Management from BNP Paribas where he was a Vice President in Global Equities, Commodities and Derivatives. He holds a B.A. from Indiana University and an M.B.A. from New York University’s Stern School of Business. Powell holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Mwanza and Powell are joined by Private Advisor Mimi Kuo-Chin Shih.

Shih has nine years of experience in the industry holding roles at UBS Private Wealth Management and CIBC Wood Gundy in Vancouver, Canada, where she advised high-net-worth individuals on tax advantaged investing, non-resident investing, and structured products. She holds a B.S. from the University of Southern California and an M.B.A from the University of Toronto.
