Bill Colwyn, CPFA, CRPC®

Bill Colwyn is a Managing Director, Private Advisor at CM Wealth Partners of Rockefeller Capital Management.

Prior to joining Rockefeller Capital Management in 2020, Bill spent 12 years as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch in Northbrook, Ill., after 10 years with Smith Barney in Chicago.  Bill began his career as a practicing attorney in Chicago and is a member of the Bars of Illinois and Washington, D.C.

A graduate of the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana with a double major in Political Science and Speech Communication, Bill went on to earn his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago. He is a member of the bar in Illinois and Washington, D.C.. He also earned the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor SM designation and the Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA) credential.  Bill was recently awarded 2024 Best-in-State Advisor by Forbes Magazine.

Bill has deep roots in Illinois, having been born in Chicago and raised in Glenview. Beyond finance and investment, Bill has many diverse interests, including sports (skiing, golf, paddle, and pickle), history, politics, philanthropy, and travel.  He lives in Deerfield, IL, with his amazing wife and has three wonderful children.
