Charles joined Rockefeller Capital Management and opened the firm’s flagship office in San Diego in February 2022.

Prior to joining Rockefeller, Charles formed Hartford Group at Merrill Lynch, where he served as a financial advisor for 12 ½ years.

Charles graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point where he captained the Army water polo team and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1989. Charles subsequently earned a Master’s Degree in History from the University of Kentucky and a Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and International Commerce from the Patterson School, University of Kentucky prior to an assignment as an associate professor in the Department of History at West Point.

During his career as an Airborne Ranger infantry officer, Charles deployed multiple times and earned numerous awards and decorations in service to the nation, including the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Legion of Merit, and the South African Parachutist Badge, as well as the Valorous Unit Award and the Bronze Star, both awarded following the successful rescue of an American POW in 2003. Charles’ last assignment on active duty was as the Deputy U.S. National Military Representative to the Strategic NATO Headquarters in Mons, Belgium.

Charles and his wife Rebecca have four children and live in La Jolla. Their oldest son is a senior in the honors college at Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida and captain of the golf team. Their daughter is a cadet at West Point and plays on the Women’s Army Rugby team. Their two youngest sons attend schools in La Jolla and are active student athletes. Charles is a past President of the Rotary Club of La Jolla and past Chairman of the San Diego Police Foundation. Additionally, Charles and Rebecca serve in a variety of leadership and board positions supporting their community and church. They enjoy the great outdoors and global excursions whenever time and weather permit.
