Stanford Young

Private Advisor, Managing Director

Stanford T. Young is a Managing Director and Private Advisor with the Rockefeller Global Family Office. He heads the Silicon Valley office in Mountain View, CA. and is on the firm’s Manager Selection Committee. His clients are typically financially sophisticated and have senior executive, venture capital, company founder, investment banker, or private equity backgrounds.

Prior to joining Rockefeller, Stan was the Founder and President of Financial Clarity, Inc. (FCI) a multi-family office. It specialized in serving high net worth families with complex situations. As FCI’s sole client advisor, he grew the firm to $2.5B of assets under advisement. After running the firm for 27 years FCI was acquired by Rockefeller in 2019.

From 1988 to 1992 Stan was a Vice President, and led the wealth management practice, of an investment boutique in Pal Alto, CA. From 1984 to 1988 he worked in various capacities for Asset Management Group (AMG), one of the first nationwide, fee-only financial advisors in the United States. At the end of his tenure with AMG, he was a Vice President and head of the West Coast office based in Los Angeles.

Between 1979 and 1982, Stan held increasingly responsible positions at Philadelphia Life Insurance Company (PLI), including Trader, Securities Analyst, Portfolio Manager, and Director of Corporate Strategic Planning.

Stan graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.S. degree in Commerce. After forecasting the rise of the new field of personal financial planning in his last role at PLI, Stan decided to attend Wharton Graduate Business School in 1982. There he successfully developed an individualized major in Personal Financial Planning that was customized to address the new mix of competencies required for success in this area. He graduated in 1984.

Stan’s interest in finance was passed on from his father who was a financial executive. Stan appreciates live auctions as they can provide a view of free markets at work. Stan’s activities and interests include: full court basketball, wine collecting, yoga, travel, paintings, NFL football, and numismatics.
