New York, March 4, 2024
Rockefeller Capital Management today announced the appointment of Christopher Kirk, a respected industry leader with 30 years of experience, as Managing Director and Head of Investment & Client Solutions. Most recently, at Wellington Management, Kirk served as President of both Wellington Alternative Investments and Wellington Funds US, with broad responsibilities for business and investment performance.
At Rockefeller, Kirk will be a member of the firm’s Management Committee and report to Eric Heaton, Head of Finance, Risk Management, and Strategy. In addition, Kirk will have reporting lines to Gregory Fleming, President & CEO, for major strategic projects and initiatives, and Edmond Moriarty III, EVP & Chief Operating Officer, for cross-business coordination.
Fleming said that Kirk will lead a newly unified organization combining the firm’s current Investment Solutions and Strategic Client Solutions groups. The new group, Investment & Client Solutions, reflects the firm’s continuing commitment to offering its clients unique and differentiated investment opportunities and solutions.
“As a highly regarded leader who brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the business, Chris is ideally suited to assume this critical leadership role at the firm,” Fleming said. “I have known Chris for over 25 years, and he has all the attributes of a successful leader at Rockefeller Capital Management – a relentless focus on excellence, a collaborative and collegial approach, and above all, a fierce commitment to serving clients.”
Kirk’s leadership team will include Rose Lee, who continues to serve as Head of Investment Solutions, now comprised of Alternatives, Capital Markets, Insurance & Annuities, Investment Due Diligence, and Product Development; Michael Brakey, who now serves as Head of Client Solutions, now comprised of Retirement and Specialty Products, Lending, and Managed Solutions; and Samantha Cooper, who assumes expanded responsibilities as Head of Distribution for Investment & Client Solutions. All three will report to Kirk.
Kirk will also partner with Christopher Dupuy, President of the Rockefeller Global Family Office, and Private Advisors on developing and maintaining a preeminent investment platform and leading solutions for our clients. In addition, he will collaborate with Jim Ratigan and Steve Valentino, Co-Presidents of Rockefeller Strategic Advisory, and their team of investment bankers to source customized and exclusive direct and co-investment opportunities.
Prior to joining Rockefeller, Kirk worked for two decades at Wellington Management where he most recently headed the two fund companies with responsibility for business and investment oversight, including governance, product development, risk management, marketing, operations, and servicing of fund investors. He also was Head of Alternatives Product Management, overseeing a team with responsibilities for engaging with clients, prospects, and consultants on investment approaches, developing new products, analyzing portfolios, and managing business issues on behalf of portfolio teams.
Before joining Wellington Management in 2004, Kirk was a director in the investment banking division at Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc., advising financial institutions on mergers & acquisitions and capital raising transactions. Earlier in his career, he held positions at A.T. Kearney and John Hancock Financial Services.
He holds an MBA from Dartmouth College and an undergraduate degree in economics and philosophy from Boston College.
